Sky Island
A hovering inhabited canopy framing mountains and valleys.
The design strategy for the house reinforces the morphology of the hill. It establishes an iconic form that responds to the site's specifications and the region's climate. The structure is embedded with all the amenities necessary for establishing an oasis that capitalizes on the unique year-round weather conditions by seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor experiences while harnessing the environmental forces of the climate. Various moments are established that re-present the site and the city through a spatial experience constantly unfolding and revealing new relationships between foreground and background —body and landscape. The architecture is bespoke to the site while allowing the occupant’s programmatic flexibility to integrate their lifestyle with the physical form of the place.
