The Orange Blossom House is located in Camelback Park Estates. It pays homage to the original mid-century modern homes of the 1950s but through a series of more contemporary glazing details and the introduction of slimmer steel structural members combined with glulam transfer beams. The modest size of the house expands indoor/outdoor living, providing a thin metal tent to shield the extreme desert sun, optimizing the small 1950s lot, and creating a 2,600 sq. ft. house that feels as large as the 8,000 sq. ft. lot. The house redefines the innovation first developed in the experimental Eichler Houses of the 1950s and transforms it into the 21st century as an alternative to the suburban single-family home.
